Conversations That Work — MPC Chatbot Masterclass: Build Practical AI Assistants

One-day, hands-on masterclass at MPC KL that turned policy conversations into working chatbots — practical design, prompt craft, deployment checklists and a pilot roadmap.

On 6 August 2025, Perbadanan Produktiviti Malaysia (MPC) hosted a compact, outcome-driven masterclass — Latihan Advance Artificial Intelligence (AI): Developing Chatbox — at Bilik Aspirasi 1, MPC KL.

This wasn’t a theoretical briefing. Over a single working day (9:00–17:00) participants moved from conversation design to a working prototype — learning to frame intents, build resilient flows, engineer prompts for predictable answers, and evaluate chatbot behaviour for accuracy, safety and usability.

What we covered (highlights)

  • Foundations & guardrails: responsible AI, data handling and auditability for public-sector deployments.

  • Conversation design: intents, slotting, fallbacks and graceful error handling.

  • Prompt engineering: patterns to keep replies factual and context-aware.

  • Training data & evaluation: sourcing, sanitising and metrics for usefulness and safety.

  • Integration patterns: connecting a chatbot to internal knowledge bases and workplace tools.

  • Operational readiness: monitoring, versioning, escalation paths and feedback loops.

  • Hands-on lab: teams built, tested and iterated a small chatbot prototype during the session.

Practical outcomes

By the end of the day, MPC officers had:

  • A working chatbot prototype tailored to MPC use cases.

  • A reusable prompt and conversation template pack.

  • An evaluation checklist and operational playbook to support rollout.

  • Clear next steps for a small pilot and scale plan.
